It is our policy that you are
not registered for class without a deposit of at least one-half
the class fee. If you do not show up and do not call 48 hours in
advance, we are not obliged to refund your deposit. Refunds will
be made if a class is cancelled. Classes may be cancelled if less
than three sign up. We ask that you purchase your class supplies
from us, and we offer 10% off purchases made at class time, and
10% off class supplies only ahead of class.
Longarm classes have a
different policy, including payment in full at the time of
sign-up, which is spelled out in the Quilting Machine Rental
Program handout.
PLEASE NOTE: As a courtesy to
all our students, please do not bring children or non-paying
guests to class!

Prairie Women’s
Sewing Circle

You are invited to join a unique, monthly club that will take you
on a journey back in time. Gather together as the Prairie Women
did, and hear anecdotal stories about their quiltmaking, and what
daily life was like for those who traveled by wagon train on the
Oregon Trail, to the lives of quilters during the Civil War, and
the years of women's suffrage for equal rights. Not only will you
learn how our quilting ancestors created quilts by "Making
Do" with what they had, you will be invited to do so
yourself!!!
Monthly patterns and other
surprises will be offered exclusively to PWSC club members only.

We are pleased to welcome Dallas Reed as our new beginning
quilting teacher! Dallas will start you out with fabric selection
and help you choose your fabrics, then take you through the steps
of making a sampler quilt. Rotary cutting, machine piecing, appliqué,
and machine quilting skills will be taught. You’ll have a week
off near the end to complete quilting your quilt, then he will
teach binding the last class. This is a great way to learn to
quilt, as well as sharpen your skills if you’ve been quilting
for awhile.

Our super quilter Marilyn will be teaching these classes. We
require that you attend this Power Quilting 101 machine quilting
class before you can rent time on our hand guided Gammill Vision
line of quilting machines, but the classes are a great way to try
out machines even if you don‘t plan to rent time on them. All
supplies are included in the class, but we do require that you
watch the web video found here: http://www.gammill.com/index.php?m=vision_videos.
We request that you view this DVD or web video at least twice
before attending the training, as well as right before renting the
machine.
Please read the Quilting
Machine Rental Program handout before signing up. We have them in
the shop, or you can request an e-mailed copy from teribackdoor@indy.rr.com.
Full payment is required for class registration, and the refund
policy is spelled out in the handout.

Mary M. is really good at walking you through the steps needed to
finish a charming table topper (or tree skirt). The pattern comes
in three sizes, and you can do whichever size you want in the
class. You'll learn how to use a 60 degree ruler, which is a handy
tool to have.

The book Sew Easy Pajama Pants is required for this class. You'll
enjoy the book--it also has a pillowcase pattern and PJ bag, as
well as multiple sizes in the master pattern. Trace the size you
want on pattern ease before the class to get the most sewing time.

The Appliqué
Society
The Central Indiana Appliquers of The Appliqué Society has its
home at the Back Door. Whether you are an old pro or just a
beginner, we welcome you. The mission of the Appliqué Society is
To Promote, to Teach and to Encourage the Love of All Types of
Appliqué in Quilting. You can learn more about the organization

Buck a Block started
again in January of 2010. This year's blocks are in brown and
tan, and blue and tan. We will have finishing
suggestions to make your 12-9" blocks into a 63"
by 78" quilt.

love fabrics, patterns, books, and ideas. Get your kit for the

and recipe, learn about Marti Michel’s rulers, and bring a Show
and Tell to get a free fat quarter each month. The meetings are
great fun and inspiring!
